Achievements
Achievements pay reputation, a standing kept across every round you play. They never change a round's score. These are the 110 you can aim for; others stay secret until you earn them.
Score single play
- Absurd: Score 450 or more points on a single play.
- Closer: Finish a round using every play, with your last play beating the rest of your final score by one point or more.
- Even Hand: Finish a round of four or more plays in which your best and worst plays are no more than 10% of your best apart.
- Front-Loaded: Finish a round using every play, with your first play beating the rest of your final score by one point or more.
- Half the Board: Finish a round using every play, with your best play beating all your other plays combined by one point or more.
- Haymaker: Score 250 or more points on a single play.
- Once in a Thousand: Score 550 or more points on a single play.
- Opening Bid: Score 100 or more points on a single play.
- Thunderclap: Score 350 or more points on a single play.
- Well Placed: Score 175 or more points on a single play.
Score full round
- Ceiling Scraper: Finish a round with a final score of 1200 or more.
- Four Figures: Finish a round with a final score of 1000 or more.
- Journeyman: Finish a medium or larger round with a final score of 600 or more.
- Millwright: Finish a hard or larger round with a final score of 900 or more.
- Three Figures: Finish an easy round with a final score of 400 or more.
- Unreasonable: Finish a round with a final score of 1500 or more.
Percent of best
- Alright Then: Finish a round having placed one tile or more.
- Beat the Solver: Beat the solver's best-known score by one point or more, once for each solver version, difficulty and mode.
- Clockwork: Finish every new puzzle you play above seventy percent of the solver's best line, on 20 days in a row.
- Consistent: Finish every new puzzle you play above eighty percent of the solver's best line, on 5 days in a row.
- Formidable: Finish a round scoring 85% or more of the solver's best line.
- Perfect Line: Finish a round scoring 100% or more of the solver's best line, matching or beating it.
- Respectable: Finish a round scoring 50% or more of the solver's best line.
- Sharp: Finish a round scoring 70% or more of the solver's best line.
- Uncanny: Finish a round scoring 95% or more of the solver's best line.
Speed
- Blistering: Finish a brutal round using every play, in 4 minutes or less.
- Brisk: Finish a medium or harder round using every play, in 2 minutes or less.
- Deliberate: Finish a round taking 20 minutes or more, idle time included, and scoring 91% or more of the solver's best line.
- Fast and Good: Finish a round using every play, in 2 minutes or less, scoring 81% or more of the solver's best line.
- Impossible Pace: Finish a round using every play, in 90 seconds or less, scoring 91% or more of the solver's best line.
- Quick Study: Finish an easy or harder round using every play, in 1 minute or less.
- Rapid: Finish a hard or brutal round using every play, in 3 minutes or less.
Word repetition
- Anagram: Play two different words of four or more letters, made of exactly the same letters, in one round.
- Echo: Play the same word two times in one round.
- Family Reunion: Play two different words in one round that share a run of four or more letters, like PLAY and REPLAY.
- Mirror Match: Play a word of four or more letters and, in the same round, the different word it spells backwards.
- Nested: In one placement, extend a word of two or more letters already on the board at both ends.
- Refrain: Play the same word of four or more letters on three days in a row, counting cross words.
- Stutter: Make one placement that forms the same word two times, once across and once down.
- Threefold: Play the same word three times in one round.
Single placement
- Bridge Builder: Connect two distinct words already on the board in a single play.
- Coast to Coast: Play one word that spans the full width of the board, from edge to edge.
- Corner Office: Place a tile on all four corners of the board across one round.
- Full Rack: Lay all seven tiles of your rack in a single play.
- Quadruple: Form four or more words in a single play, three or more of them cross words.
- Sextuple: Form six or more words in a single play, five or more of them cross words.
- Threading the Needle: Lay a word right beside an existing word and parallel to it, forming five or more cross words with it in one play.
Letters and vocabulary
- Alphabet Soup: Form words using every letter of the alphabet across one day's puzzles, counting cross words.
- Consonantless: Lay four or more letters on real tiles in one play, every one of them A, E, I, O, U or Y.
- Featherweight: Score 150 or more points on a single play in which every tile you placed is worth 6 or less, with no digraph tile.
- Heavy Metal: Play a word holding two or more real W, K, V, Z, X, J or Q tiles.
- Lexicographer: Play 500 different words across all your rounds, counting cross words.
- Q Without U: Play a word with a Q in it and not one U.
- Scrabble Nerd: Play ten different two-letter words across all your rounds, counting cross words.
- Vowelless: Lay four or more letters on real tiles in one play, none of them A, E, I, O, U or Y.
- Word Hoard: Play 2000 different words across all your rounds, counting cross words.
Special tiles
- Blank Cheque: Score 325 or more points on a single play that uses at least one blank.
- Both Barrels: Play at least one blank and one digraph tile in the same play.
- Compound Interest: Play at least one digraph tile on a double- or triple-letter square.
- Purist: Finish a round using every play, scoring 86% or more of the solver's best line, without ever playing the blank.
- Spice Merchant: Play three different real letters from W, K, V, Z, X, J and Q in one medium or harder round.
- The Whole Zoo: Play three different real letters from J, Q, X and Z in one brutal round.
- Two for One: Play at least one digraph tile.
- Wildcard: Play at least one blank tile.
Premium squares
- Capped Out: Take at least one word to the word multiplier ceiling in a single play.
- Clone Army: Clone two or more tiles in a single round.
- Cloning Vat: Trigger a Clone square with a tile worth 24 or more, such as a Z, X, J or Q.
- Escalation: Finish a round of three or more plays by covering an Escalator on the last one.
- Full Spectrum: Finish a round with zero premium square types left untriggered: every kind on the board fired at least once.
- Gatekeeper: Trigger a Gate square with a word of eight or more letters.
- Hall of Mirrors: Trigger a Mirror square with a genuine palindrome: one word that reads the same both ways.
- Keystone: Trigger Keystone with a word that runs through four or more tiles already on the board.
- Nouveau Riche: Trigger Rich at least one time with a tile that only just qualifies, which today is a W.
- Resonance: Trigger Match with a letter you lay three or more times in one play.
- Stacked: Trigger two or more word multipliers in one placement.
- Triple Threat: Trigger at least one triple word square in a single play.
- Vowel Movement: Trigger two Vowel Bonus squares in one round.
Bag management
- Efficient: Finish at least one new puzzle with no leftover-tile penalty on 3 days in a row.
- Hoarder: Finish a round with 75 or more points still unplayed.
- Just Enough: Finish a round with exactly one tile unplayed, in your rack or the bag.
- Tiles Laid: Place 12 or more tiles in a single round.
Mode specific
- Blind Faith: Finish a Draft round having placed one tile or more.
- Both Eyes Open: Finish the same puzzle in two modes, Open and Draft, above eighty percent of the solver's best line in each.
- Brutal Honesty: Finish a Brutal round scoring 80% or more of the solver's best line.
- Clairvoyant: Finish a Draft round scoring 85% or more of the solver's best line.
- Draft Dodger: Finish a puzzle in Draft scoring at least one point more than your best finish of it in Open.
- Prophet: Finish a Draft round scoring 95% or more of the solver's best line.
- Purist's Gauntlet: Play only Draft rounds on 7 days in a row.
- Sealed Fate: Finish the same puzzle in two modes, Open and Draft, on the same day.
- Second Sight: Finish a Draft round scoring 70% or more of the solver's best line.
Streaks and consistency
- Comeback: Play on 30 days in a row after losing a run of 30 days or more.
- Fortnight: Play on 14 days in a row.
- Habit Forming: Play on 3 days in a row.
- Half a Year: Play on 180 days in a row.
- Iron Player: Play on 500 days in a row.
- Monthly: Play on 30 days in a row.
- Perennial: Play on 365 days in a row.
- Season Ticket: Play on 90 days in a row.
Seasonal and calendar
- All Four Seasons: Play in all four quarters of one calendar year.
- Leap Day: Play one round on Leap Day, the extra day at the end of February.
- New Year: Play one round on New Year's Day, the first of January.
Long haul
- A Thousand Words: Play 1000 words across all your finished rounds, counting one word per play.
- Century: Finish 100 rounds.
- Every Difficulty, Every Mode: Finish a round at every difficulty in every mode.
- Games Played: Finish 10 rounds.
- Seven Figures: Reach a lifetime score of 1000000 or more, adding up the final scores of all your finished rounds.
- Six Figures: Reach a lifetime score of 100000 or more, adding up the final scores of all your finished rounds.
- Ten Thousand: Play 10000 words across all your finished rounds, counting one word per play.
- Veteran: Finish 1000 rounds.
Hidden
- Maximalist: Play an eight-letter word, the longest the dictionary holds — Hard and Brutal boards have the room.
